The population of Saunders County, NE was 19,830 at the time of the 2000 Census.  Various townships and cities make up Saunders County, the largest of which are Ashland, Wahoo and Yutan.  The population of Saunders County was 19,830 at the time of the 2000 Census.  Ashland, population 2,262, maintains a bedroom community for nearby cities, while Yutan, population 1,216, remains a pastoral village with its own distinct character. 

Located in the heart of Saunders County, Wahoo -- population 3,942 -- is the county seat and center of commerce.  Saunders County, NE residents have access to an impressive selection of colleges and universities that include Bellevue University, BryanLGH College of Health Sciences, Creighton University and two campuses of the University of Nebraska
