Papillion, Nebraska was established in 1870.  "Papillion" comes from a French word meaning "butterfly."  Papillion occupies the center of Sarpy County, with easy access to Interstate 29 and I-80. 

Papillion's flourishing community lies just outside of Omaha and 45 minutes east of Lincoln, NE's Capital City.  The residents of Papillion, population 16,363 (2000 Census), enjoy an enviable quality of life with top-notch schools and excellent higher learning facilities that include Bellevue University, Creighton University and the University of Nebraska at Omaha

In addition to close proximity to the vast business and career options in Omaha, Papillion offers its own solid economic base.  Money Magazine named Papillion, Nebraska the sixth best place to live in 2007.
